Most Neglected Book of the Bible?
What’s your opinion? Which of the 66 books of the Bible receives the least amount of attention (in personal Bible study, preaching airtime, etc.)?
Obadiah? 3 John? Nahum?
In my opinion, the tiny book of Jude is the most neglected book in our Bibles. Think about it. If someone asked you what this book is about, would you be able to tell them?
I want to give Jude a bit of airtime because in giving Jude airtime we give the gospel air time. So, I’m writing up a short study guide on Jude for 20s. We’ll study Jude for 3 weeks before taking a December break and then beginning a lengthy study of Philippians in January. I’m thinking of calling this study, “Hey Jude: 3 studies on the most neglected book of the Bible.”
Justin,
I’m studying through Jude with a few college guys in Sonoma and recently preached on Jude 1-4. I can’t begin to tell you the blessing and challenge it has been to me. Into today’s post-modern mileau, Jude harkens us to “contend for the faith that was once for all handed down.” With all the contentiousness swirling around us (e.g. Iraq) most people would prefer that we cease all contending, and yet Jude shows us why we MUST contend for the faith. How narrowly you define faith is an interesting question and would be interested to hear eventually where you arrive on that. Enjoy!
Patrick
