Tonight’s fight is going to be great. I’m rooting for Sylvia in the heavyweight bout and, of course, pulling for Hughes to retain his welterweight title. I’ve been watching UFC since I was a high schooler (before gloves were required & head butts were outlawed), and this looks to be one of the better fight cards in recent UFC history. Bring it on, UFC 65.
I go for Hughes- I dig his attitude. I’m not rooting for either Sylvia nor Monzon. Hopefully Monzon can take Sylvia to the ground, b/c he doesn’t stand a chance on standup. Those dudes are BIG. Maybe Buzzard could take them!
By the way- for anyone who wants to practice some jiu jitsu (basis for all mixed martial arts)- there’s an “open mat” practice today at Ronin Ju Jitsu (533 San Mateo Ave., San Bruno, CA http://www.ronin-academy.com). It’s right across from Lullaby Lane. I’ll be there 12-2. Anyone can come- it’s free. You’ll learn some basic submission moves (mostly grappling)and can even get to try them out right away. It’s the greatest workout ever…
