    Preaching Is Like Giving Birth

I think it was Ian Pitt Watson who once said that writing a sermon is like giving birth–sometimes the labor is short and sweet, sometimes the labor is long and difficult. This week I had a long and difficult labor with Philippians 2:12&13. Fortunately, the labor is over now and I’ve got some time to rest before I present this newborn to the congregation on Sunday morning.

…and I look forward to hearing the newborn!

I had forgotten that quote, but it really is a good one. I needed an epidural this week…and they never seem to be fully delivered until Sunday afternoon. Still, good to be doing what you love.

I had a particularly difficult labor this week as well. Kind of feel like I came away from it with a limp, which must mean I was really tussling with the Lord. I’m blessed to share this calling and challenge with you brother.
