Preaching & Prayer
“Basically I am convinced that men who do not make praying their first priority in life and ministry should not preach or pastor. As preachers they will be confusing models of a Christian man, and as shepherds they will not show willingness to die for the sheep…As we seek faith and pray together, the power will be in the preaching, and other matters such as style will begin to take their own course.”
-Jack Miller
Excellent quote. I added it to my blog.
Thanks much for your encouragement.
Blessings to you and the ministry.
I love the Lord so much. But praying for me is hard. Mark Mitchell spoke about that in one of his sermons and challenged people to pray for an hour straight and see just how tedious it is.
Many times it feels like work, as if there is a invisible force keeping you from starting. Kinda like saying the first words of apology to your spouse. Once you start it’s easier but just starting it’s a struggle for me.
Is it just sin alone that accounts for that? Shouldn’t you enjoy talking to someone you love?
Wow, that is one of the most convicting and challenging quotes I have read in a long time!
