You nailed it – totally. I became a first-time dad at 45, a blessing I never thought would happen after I hit 25 or so…..yet all the first-time realities hit me equally, just with a bit more maturity, since I’d gotten a lot of the “me” out of my system during all those childless years. I definitely live the highs & lows of my children, and am intentional in all that I do, teach, say, and feel, and that goes for Godly wisdom as well.

Dig it. Though I would say that most would-be pre-fathers I know are indeed concerned with the loss of self-indulgences they became so accustomed to. My favorite quote from a buddy to his wife recently “But honey, I won’t be able to just go to Vegas for the weekend” (which he has yet to have done in the history of their marriage).
