A Mother’s Poem
My mom recently came across a poem she wrote in her journal 10+ years ago. She wrote this 5 months before being diagnosed with breast cancer. Here’s the poem:
Oh me of “little faith”, tossed on waves of doubt
Churning seas of fears, spin me all about
These anxious thoughts are silly God, you hold me in your hand,
But from my eyes these waves are huge, not safe like when on land
My vision it is flawed of course, you’re the same on land and sea,
Help me rest in your presence God, and in your care of me
Forgive my frail & foolish doubts, this little lamb is scared
Thanks for love, thanks for you and the future you’ve prepared
In looking back over that time it’s so evident God answered my cry in that prayer/poem with the gift of the journey ahead. Super hard, but I wouldn’t trade the deeper roots in my relationship with the Lord and all the sweet moments with your Dad, you and Mark. Also amazing friends who walked with me! We sure don’t always get the answer to prayers we want, but we absolutely get what we NEED from our loving father!!
Thank you for sharing this. Lately I have been feeling that my perspective of God is off. Praying that he will clarify my thoughts and that I too will rest in him alone.
