Must See Video For Men
Last week Darrin Patrick shared the video trailer for his new book, Church Planter, at an event in the Bay Area. This is not simply a video for church planters or pastors, every man reading this blog post and every man you know should watch this 4 minute video. Women, watch it too. Then go make a man in your life watch it.
PS. My endorsement for the book/in the book lists me as a church planter in Phoenix. See here for why I’m not in Phoenix and still live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I like the enthusiasm, but he comes off pretentious at times. Maybe its a soft spot for me, but I fail to see the correlation between playing video games and not being enthused about God–its just like any other hobby, it just has to be taken in moderation. I’ll probably be adding to that average age of a gamer for every year that I live and still share my faith all the time. I understand his sentiment, but picking out video games alone and making a direct correlation between it and masturbation is taking a bit too far of a leap for me. Yes, many men do both, and they can both stem from the same problem (loneliness) but they are not by any means always together, and the playing of video games does not necessarily have anything to do with one’s timidity of faith.

Dude, that is AWESOME!! I miss hearing Darrin speak!!
Kicked me in head in a good way; to wake up and get pro-active with God leading me out of this pit that I’ve put myself into…Thanks for the posting..
absolutely phenomenal video. being someone in a latin american context, i take issue with two little points… it is only significant, because the inaccuracies “bump me out of the story”, and add unnecessary noise to the message…
residentially: tough economies and the changing nature of family can keep people living in their home of origin… there can be an adult/adult relationship with our young adults while they are still living at home. people from limited economic situations live in multi-generational family homes but can still become mature men. it has more to do with initiation than it does with residence.
vocationally… The nature of the job has changed SO MUCH. Almost every professional seems to work on contract, or like a free agent, and it is not fair to associate the new nature of work with a prolonged adolescence.
I look forward to the book. I can sense the hombrio coming out of this author. Love what I see.
Matt
