Now, Discover Your Strengths

As long as you read it with a gospel-centric understanding of human nature and personality, Buckingham & Clifton's Now, Discover Your Strengths is a helpful exploration of personality, strengths, and talent.I enjoyed this book. I've enjoyed how this book has helped me better understand myself and those I minister to. I'm thinking about using this book for some supplementary training with our ministry leaders. At the heart of Now, Discover Your Strengths is The Gallup Organization's StrengthsFinder Profile (you've got to buy the book and use the hidden code/password in order to take the test). I'm not a fan of many personality profiles due to the either/or fallacy-laden questions and research that seem to drive them. This test, however, was different. And it yielded results that seem true to life. If you know me well, you can be the judge of this by reading below. Here's what the StrengthsFinder Profile presents as my top 5 strengths:Woo: People strong in the Woo theme love the challenge of meeting new people and winning them over. They derive satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection with another person.Learner: People strong in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. In particular, the process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.Focus: People strong in the Focus theme can take a direction, follow through, and make the corrections necessary to stay on track. They prioritize, then act.Communication: People strong in the Communication theme generally find it easy to put their thoughts into words. They are good conversationalists and presenters.Positivity: People strong in the Positivity theme have an enthusiasm that is contagious. They are upbeat and can get others excited about what they are going to do.
