A Friend from Vacation: Martyn Lloyd-Jones
During my vacation I spent a great deal of time with my family. I also spent a good deal of time with Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981), one of the greatest preachers of all time. I carried Volume 1 of Iain Murray's excellent biography of Lloyd-Jones with me nearly every where I went during vacation. See if you can detect Lloyd-Jones' continuouspresence in the vacation pictures below:

Above all his characteristics, what struck me most about Lloyd-Jones was his unflinching boldness for the gospel as a man, pastor, and preacher. MLJ appears to have never shrunk back from boldly standing for and proclaiming the glorious gospel of his Savior. I'd like to be more like him.I'd also like to learn more about what MLJ was like as a husband and father. I think it's a notable deficiency of Murray's biography that MLJ's marriage and family life receives little coverage. Volume 2 of Murray's biography should arrive on my doorstep today. Perhaps this concluding volume will devote some space to these matters.I was so intrigued and blessed by my reading of MLJ that I went ahead and ordered an assortment of his other works: a volume on his evangelistic sermons during his early days at Abberavon, Wales and his classic, Preaching and Preachers. I already own his work, Spiritual Depression. MLJ fans, what are your favorite works by the doctor? What do I need to order next?
