In Case You Missed Osteen & Horton on 60 Minutes
If you missed the Osteen piece on 60 Minutes tonight, you can go here to read a transcript of the interview and view a brief video.60 Minutes and Byron Pitts did a great job with this. I had two favorite moments from the segment, Michael Horton's spot on critique of Osteen's gospel-less theology and this exchange between Osteen and Pitts:"You said 'I like to see myself as a life coach, a motivator tohelp them experience the life of God that God has for them. Peopledon’t like to be beat down and told 'You’ve done wrong.' What do youmean?" Pitts asks."Well, I think that most people already know what they’re doingwrong. And for me to get in here and just beat ‘em down and talk downto ‘em, I just don’t think that inspires anybody to rise higher. But Iwant to motivate. I wanna motivate every person to leave here to be abetter father, a better husband, to break addictions to come up higherin their walk with the Lord," Osteen says."I mean is that being a pastor or is that being Dr. Phil or Oprah?" Pitts asks."No, I think we use God’s word. I think the principles that youhear Dr. Phil and some of those others talk about many times are rightout of the Bible," Osteen says.
