Spiritual Check-up, Part 2
Here's Spiritual Check-up, Part 2, excerpts from Don Whitney's Ten Questions To Diagnose Your Spiritual Health.6. Do you delight in the bride of Christ?...Jesus made an incomparable journey from Heaven and worked more than thirty years for the delight of His eyes, the church...one of the best tests of whether we belong to Christ is whether we delight in His delight, namely the people who comprise His church. (p. 82)7. Are the spiritual disciplines increasingly important to you?The spiritual disciplines are not by themselves the marks of Christlikeness as much as they are the means to it. Without understanding this distinction, it is possible for someone to practice the disciplines and be far from Christ...The disciplines are not machines that makes more like Jesus if we will just use them. Only God's grace working through the disciplines can transform those who practice them with eyes of faith on Him. (p. 96)8. Do you still grieve over sin?The closer you get to Christ, the more you will hate sin; for nothing is more unlike Christ than sin. Because Jesus hates sin, the more like Him you grow the more you will grow to hate sin. (p. 102)9. Are you a quicker forgiver?...a forgiving spirit characterizes those who have been forgiven. Repenters toward God are forgivers toward others. (p. 114)10. Do you yearn for heaven and to be with Jesus? Those who have spent decades loving and living for Jesus naturally long to see Him.
