Claire Callaghan: The Gospel

I have couples fill out a questionnaire at the beginning of the pre-marital counseling process. One of the questions I ask on the questionnaire is "What is the gospel?" I appreciate the answer my friend/fellow church member Claire Callaghan gave to this question last week. It's a great definition to ponder on Good Friday.

The unbelievably good news that God, through Jesus, has quenched His wrath (reserved for us, deserved by us) in Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and now sees us as blameless and spotless. He transferred Jesus' righteousness to us and loves us as children and fellow heirs. This highlights not our worthiness, but brings glory to his gracious nature. Now we can enjoy Him forever!
