Biblical Theology Via Stained Glass Window
Last night at 20s, we had the privilege of having Bernard Bell as our guest speaker.Bernard is a pastor at Peninsula Bible Church Cupertino and a personal friend who, over the last several years, has taught me much about Biblical Theology /the Story of Redemption. Bernard is, hands down, one of the most brilliant people I know. I'm thankful that Bernard is using his brilliance to teach Bible--to teach the church that the Bible tells one sweeping story of God's plan to be in relationship with his people.Last April, Bernard sketched out a design for a faceted glass (similar to stained glass) window that would show/teach the story of redemption. Two weeks ago Bernard's sketch became a reality as a 25 ft. tall, 12 ft. wide Biblical Theology-saturated window was installed behind the pulpit at his church. What Bernard did at our group last night was teach his way through this window. He taught our group through the 5 act biblical story depicted within the vertical bays of the window:Prelude: God1. Creation2. Israel3. Christ4. The Church5. ConsummationNeedless to say, it was a rich night of learning for all of us. If you'd like to better understand the story this window tells, you can use the link below to download Bernard's handout from last night--a 2 page pdf that interprets the window. I highly encourage you to read through this handout. Read through the handout while looking at this picture of the window as a means of deepening your understanding and appreciation of the message of the Bible.Download pbccwindow-bigpicture.pdfIn addition: Last night Bernard also passed out this booklet which is a collection of 4 of his sermons that tell the story of redemption, using the headings: The Good, The Bad, The New, & The Perfect. For the past year I've had the chart that appears on page 4 of this booklet pinned up on the wall in my study. I would also encourage all of you to check out this booklet.
