Men, You Need Good Men in Your Life

Men, you need good men in your life. You need men who love you, encourage you, and who challenge you and tell you hard things. You really need this if you are a strong leader, a man who many people won't think to pursue, encourage, and challenge. Church planter types, you especially need this.I'm very thankful for my nearly five years serving as a pastor at Central Peninsula Church. I'm especially thankful for my friendship with the elders of CPC, in particular Mark Mitchell and John Brandon. These two men have pursued me, encouraged me, and lovingly critiqued me for many years now. It hasn't always been fun, but it has always been good.Even though I'm now planting a church and no longer on staff at CPC, my friendship with these men continues. Today I met with Mark and John over breakfast. They told me how they are in my corner and expressed how excited they are about what I'm doing. Then, precisely because they are in my corner, they shared with me all the strengths and all the weaknesses I bring to the table as a church planter. They want me to have my eyes wide open to the strengths I should focus on and the weaknesses I need to address as I begin a new ministry. I think most men don't have men like this in their life.Men, you need good men in your life.Go get it. Pray for it. Ask for it.
